About Dr Dalvie

A broad clinical journey, grounded in helping people and making a difference.

Dr Zayyaan Dalvie studied medicine at Stellenbosch University and graduated in 2021. Her early clinical career took her through a wide range of settings, building a broad base of experience across hospital, emergency and community care.

She completed her internship at Groote Schuur Hospital, followed by community-service experience at Heideveld Emergency Centre and Valkenberg Hospital. She later continued working at Valkenberg on and off after community service, strengthening an interest in mental health that remains an important part of her professional focus.

Dr Dalvie currently works at Dr Bawoodien’s practice and across various GP settings, and will be moving to Dr Khan at Ferndale Healthcare in Ottery. Her clinical interests extend beyond mental health to paediatrics, women’s health and aesthetic medicine.

What she enjoys most about medicine is straightforward and deeply human: helping others and seeing the difference that care can make.

Within women’s health, Dr Dalvie feels strongly about breast examinations and believes they are not performed often enough despite their importance. That emphasis on simple, meaningful preventative care aligns closely with the purpose of #Pads4Paps.

She chose to volunteer after being exposed to the campaign through her sister and Chelsea, turning that awareness into something practical by donating her own time to the women attending this year’s campaign.

“Definitely helping others and seeing the difference I made.”

Clinical interests and experience

Her experience reflects a broad medical foundation with a growing focus on the areas of care that matter most to her.

Mental health

A key clinical interest shaped in part by her experience at Valkenberg Hospital.

Women’s health

Preventative care, including the importance of routine breast examination and women feeling comfortable raising concerns.

Paediatrics

An area she previously considered pursuing and one that remains part of her clinical interests.

Aesthetic medicine

A newer area of professional interest alongside her broader general-practice work.

Emergency care

Experience gained at Heideveld Emergency Centre during community service.

Broad GP care

Current work across general-practice environments supports a practical, adaptable approach to everyday healthcare.

With heartfelt thanks

Thank you, Dr Zayyaan.

By giving her evening and professional care without payment, Dr Dalvie is helping #Pads4Paps create more appointment capacity and more opportunities for women to prioritise their health. We are grateful that awareness of the campaign became action, and that her time is now part of the care being offered to our community.
