Women’s health
More women are given an accessible opportunity to prioritise their own health.
This background clip shows schoolgirls celebrating and thanking 4FR Health after receiving sanitary pad donations through Woman2Woman.
From women’s health screenings to restored dignity in schools and communities, #Pads4Paps shows how one act of care can travel far beyond the consultation room.
Since 2019, #Pads4Paps has assisted, on average, more than 100 women per year with women’s health screenings and has collected more than 1,000 packets of sanitary pads per year. The combined purpose of #Pads4Paps is both practical and far-reaching, protecting health, dignity and school attendance.
The first ripple begins inside the consultation room. Each year, women are encouraged to make time for cervical screening, breast and urinary concerns, contraception, family planning and other women’s health needs.
The second ripple travels far beyond 4FR Health. Every donated packet of sanitary pads can help a girl attend school without interruption, take part with confidence and manage her period with dignity.
More women are given an accessible opportunity to prioritise their own health.
Donations are carried by trusted partners to girls and women who need them.
Health, dignity and education are strengthened through one shared effort.
Each chapter reflects the people who gave, the organisations who received and the women and girls reached through the campaign.
Five young female doctors volunteered their time and skills during a three-hour clinic. Nearly 50 women received Pap smears, breast examinations and urine testing while contributing sanitary products and women’s toiletries.
The donations were handed to the Saartjie Baartman Centre for Women and Children, supporting women and children affected by violence and abuse.
The COVID-19 pandemic changed our plans, but not our determination. We adapted the initiative into a weekend clinic on 7 and 8 August 2020. This was the year the campaign received its name: #Pads4Paps.
All sanitary pad donations collected during the weekend were donated to Mount Hope KLC.
The effects of the pandemic became deeply personal for the 4FR Health family. We lost a staff member to COVID-19, and Gavin became seriously ill. The campaign paused for the year, but its purpose remained.
Instead of holding the campaign for only a day or weekend, August became an entire month dedicated to women’s health and menstrual dignity. Nearly 250 women received women’s health screenings and more than 1,200 packets of sanitary pads were collected.
The donations were delivered to Ratang Bana Place of Safety in Alexandra Township, Gauteng. During the handover, the team learned that the contribution would assist more than 300 school-going girls who relied on Ratang Bana for sanitary pads.
As the expanded Women’s Month campaign gathered momentum, Weekend Argus profiled Dr Colette Adams-Julius and the #Pads4Paps model: women prioritising preventive reproductive health while their sanitary pad donations helped girls supported by Ratang Bana Place of Safety.
The report captured an important turning point. By the time it was published, the campaign had already attracted 100 women who had completed or confirmed bookings, showing how #Pads4Paps was growing beyond a once-off clinic into a sustainable month-long campaign.
The story also highlighted support from Hamadi Clinical Laboratories and the wider idea behind the initiative: one woman’s health appointment can create a second act of care for another woman or girl.

Under the leadership of Florence Campbell, the team combines sanitary pad distribution with after-school activities, training, life skills and safe spaces for women and girls affected by gender-based violence.
More than 1,800 packets of sanitary pads donated by 4FR Health patients were handed over for distribution to local school-going girls during 2024 and 2025.

Donations only create change when committed people make sure they reach the right hands. Florence and her team transform boxes of sanitary pads into practical support, school attendance and restored dignity.
“Woman2Woman empowers women and girls to know their worth and value. We are committed to breaking the silence on GBV and creating safe spaces for victims. Our Sanitary Drive restores dignity to young girls by providing essential sanitary pads.”Florence Campbell, Woman2Woman
In a newly shared interview, Mrs September, Principal of Hillside Primary, explains just how urgent the need remains. She describes how even very young learners arrive at school unprepared for menstruation and how financial hardship at home often leaves girls without basic sanitary support.
Her message is a reminder that each donation is not just a product. It is reassurance, dignity, education and practical support for girls who might otherwise miss out.
“Every packet that we have received from the donators, we appreciate it ... it is important that our girls be educated.” Mrs September, Principal, Hillside Primary
A patient, family, business or supporter donates packets of sanitary pads or funds the campaign.

Trusted community partners such as Woman2Woman take the packets into schools and communities.
The donation becomes comfort, confidence, dignity and uninterrupted school attendance.
Florence Campbell and the Woman2Woman team plan to visit 12 schools and provide 100 packets of sanitary pads to each school.
That creates a minimum target of 1,200 packets for 2026. Based on the generosity shown since 2022, this goal is more than attainable. With everyone’s help, we believe the campaign can far exceed it.
“Our belief is that girls should be able to go to school uninterrupted, and not miss out due to a lack of sanitary pads.”Florence Campbell, Woman2Woman
